I am the owner of SanSu Glass Design; a charter member & past president of Twin City Artisans; I teach classes in both stained glass & mosaics at Sawtooth School for Visual Art (SSVA), at Hobby Lobby in Greensboro & wherever I can put a class together. I teach workshops at Falling Rivers Gallery in Albemarle. I have been making stained-glass & mosaic art for nearly 20 years only because my best friend invited me to attend a stained-glass class with her. I was “immediately hooked” into my heart’s passion. When I moved from Southern Illinois to North Carolina I had no intention of doing anything but stained glass. However in the last several years I have grown more enamored with mosaics using glass, glass tile & found objects. I love to use old, thrown-away items & bring them back to life with mosaics or stained glass. Having no formal art background, I started out using mostly patterns I found in books, but now I usually design my own patterns. But since I am not much of an artist, I often end up with a composite design using a mixture of photos, pictures in magazines, parts of different patterns, etc. This way of design has always been me, my mother was an excellent seamstress & made most of my clothes when I was in high school. I would find a pattern & tell her ‘I want it like this, but change the collar, make a belt, the sleeves need to be fuller/longer, etc.’ I could never just have it made like the pattern. Are you interested in a workshop or class? Don’t hesitate to contact me. We can put something together.
